New York Military Academy Reviews

I am a former student/Cadet of NYMA. I attended because I was looking for a school that would prepare me for admission to West Point. What I got was a complete disaster. The school is hypocritical and the caliber of the young people they accept into their Corps is appalling. It was not the military aspect or the academics that were hard to stomach, it was the people themselves. I would never recommend NYMA to anyone. Spare your children and find another school.

I am very pleased with NYMA. In a short time I have seen my son transformed from an apathetic student into one who strives to do his best.

Very fine School! Teachers are very attentive, highly skilled, and take a personal interest in all students!

We have found the Academy a godsend for our son. He has matured under caring teachers and staff. It has given him a will to self achieve and motivated a 'can do' attitude. He has been challenged to join sport teams that I never imagioned him to be interested in and did it well. I highly recommend NYMA for your cadet.

We found that supervision during students free time should be stricter considering that the student to teacher/adult ratio is small. As for the academics, the level of education is very good, but we were led to believe that closer supervision would be instituted to make sure the students do and get their work in on time, (after all, these are teenagers and they will try to get away with doing the minimal). We also feel that stricter discipline/self-control should be taught to the students, considering this is one of the main reasons we send our children to military schools, and pay this kind of tuition. Closer communications with parents and teachers/adults in-charge should be practiced more. Overall, other than these issues, it is a very good school with a very good level of education. They just need to adhere to their sales pitch for closer supervision, and, 'teaching' students discipline.

i do not have the proper supervision as well as saftey that this school promises as they give their tour and presentation
